Frequently Asked Questions

Please find the answers to our frequently asked questions here - consult this section prior to asking our Committee or Range Officers questions about membership, the shooting activity we undertake, our Strand Range, etc.

If I am a returning member, do I have to complete the membership application forms again?

Yes, please can you complete the whole process again, each year we need to give an updated list of our membership to the police force with up to date data each year.

Can I bring my own air pistol or rifle to the range?

Please note that at our range, we do not permit visitors to bring their own air pistols or rifles without first consulting the president of the Club. Additionally, our facility holds no responsibility for any issues that may arise should you choose to bring your own air pistol or rifle against this policy. We strongly advise against bringing any personal air firearms or firearms without prior discussion with our president to ensure compliance with our rules and to maintain a safe and controlled environment.

Can I store my own rifle in the range?

We do not have a facility to store members firearms at our club presently, but we have club rifles which members can use to participate in our training sessions. These are .22LR bolt action target rifles, most are Anschutz Match 64s or Anschutz 1906s.

What kind of shooting do you do at the Strand Range?

Our range on Strand is rated for .22 calibre firearms only, and for prone shooting only (lying down flat on your stomach to shoot). We use bolt-action .22 Anschutz rifles to live fire at paper targets 25 yards away, with the aim of getting as close to the middle of each target as possible (like getting a bullseye in archery).
